
Visualising Monopile Installation
Seaway7’s Installation & Delivery department wanted to make offshore installation operations more predictable, efficient and safe by making better use of operational data. For monopile installation, data from the vessel, crane, thrusters, gripper and environmental conditions was available, but difficult to analyse together in one clear view. The goal was to develop a Python based tool that could visualise this data over time and support stability analysis of the dynamic positioning system.

Yabba Data Doo developed an interactive visualisation tool for monopile installation operations.
The application brings vessel configuration, time series data and operational visualisations together in one interactive tool. Engineers can replay installation data over time, analyse vessel motion and thruster behaviour, and visualise the interaction between crane, monopile, gripper and environmental conditions.
Users can export visualisations, screenshots and analysis outputs for reporting and further analysis.

The tool helped Seaway7 move from separate tools and static analysis towards a more integrated view of monopile installation behaviour.
By combining vessel, crane, thruster, gripper, monopile and environmental data in one application, engineers can better understand how operational conditions and equipment behaviour interact over time. This supports more informed analysis of vessel stability, dynamic positioning behaviour and installation performance.
The project also created a practical foundation for future development towards real time analysis and operational decision support for offshore installation operations.
